Big Data Analytics Trends in Healthcare Industry

1.1 Overview:

Big data analytics has become the crucial problem in healthcare informatics in terms of data querying, database design, data knowledge representation, clinical decision support etc. In the healthcare industry, big data is originally generated from the large electronic data sets, for the healthcare professionals, it’s challenging to manage these data sets with the conventional software & hardware. As per researchers, 80% of the healthcare data analytics is being unstructured, it’s being a great challenge for the healthcare industry to make sense of all data & leverage it effectively for medical research, treatment courses, clinical operations etc. With the emerging technology, this industry spreads their wings & promises to support a diverse range of healthcare data management functions such as disease surveillance, population health management etc.

1.2 Need of Big Data in Healthcare:

As we know from last few years, healthcare costs are increasing day by day, we are in need of some smart, data driven thinking in this field. In the healthcare industry, the problem isn’t the lack of data but the lack of information used to support decision making, planning etc. Like for example whenever any patient admits, his/her stay generates thousands of data elements such as lab results, billing, diagnoses, medications, medical supplies etc. For meaningful analysis, this data need to integrate & validate into a large source of data. For multiple patients, it’s difficult to generate & merge all data, lead to the emergence of big data technology.

Big Data Trends in Healthcare

2.1 AI changing healthcare:

For improving healthcareartificial intelligence in medicine is a great idea that can advance the patient communication and healthcare professionals. AI mainly enhance the capacity to process & store large amounts of data in an intelligent manner and translate that information into functional tools. To make sense of unstructured data, AI uses complex computer algorithms & puts a wealth of information at providers fingertips.

2.2 Cloud computing impact on healthcare:

Today’s lots of healthcare sectors depend on paperwork, to modernize and reform this sector cloud computing technology is adopted. In Healthcare industry, it plays a vital role in moving the healthcare to a digital platform becoming more patient centred and data driven. This computing technology helps healthcare industry in storing large data, sharing information among hospitals, physicians, research facilities and insurance companies to use improved computing resources at the lower initial capital. Day by day cloud computing becomes the key technology requirement of the healthcare IT industry.

2.3 Virtual Reality in healthcare:

In the healthcare  virtual reality technology creates a simulated environment & allows the user to interact with the 3d world. As we know reality comes by way of our senses, simply this technology is considered as a combination of sensory information & our brains sense-making mechanisms for that information. Now a day’s medical professionals & scientists have been implementing & developing virtual reality in many ways that can help them diagnose, train & treat in critical situations, telemedicine etc.

2.4 Medical Robots:

Robotics systems are more responsive to real-time human control than about autonomous operation. These robots really transform the field of medicine across the world from robot therapists to robotic pharmacists, radiation treatment to eye surgery etc. In the healthcare industry, medical robots play a vital role in performing complex tasks that require brief attention to every detail because one wrong move may lead to death. These robots not only exist in sci-fi movies & the distant future but also comes in the healthcare field. In healthcare variety of robots are available like Bio Robots,  Surgical Robots, UV Disinfection Robots, Rehabilitation Robots etc.

2.5 Nanorobot for cancer treatment:

Nanorobot is an extremely small robot that is designed to perform specific tasks at the nanoscale dimension of few nanometers i.e. 1 nm = 10-9 meter. In healthcare IT industry, this technology brings a great boom  & helps in protecting & maintaining the human body against viruses or bacteria. Suppose you visit a doctor for a common disease treatment, instead of giving treatment he/she sends you to a special team who implants small robots in your bloodstream. These robots will recognise the cause of your illness and provide a dose of medication directly to an infected area. These robots are known as Nanorobots which greatly transforms the future of healthcare & eventually cure everything from cancer to haemophilia. Nanorobots will possess at least two-way communication through sound waves, these robots will receive power which will keep the track of each active nanorobot passes & then report the results. After treating, these nanorobots would be flush out of the body immediately.

Cancer is a big disease which would be untreatable if not diagnose early. At the time of cancer treatment, the patient had to undergo long chemotherapies which will adversely affect other human cells. This traditional radiation treatment of chemotherapy kills not only the cancer cells but also the healthy human cells which lead to hair loss, depression, nausea & fatigue. The other alternative of this painful chemotherapies is nanorobots. Doctors would offer the patient an injection of a special type of nanorobot that would check & destroy the cancer cells without touching the healthy ones. This great enhancement would raise the standard of healthcare at great extent.
